However, in face of the commonly known problems with publishing one's

I have a service written in VB.Net 2003.  My test server is a windows 2003
Server and the service is running fine there.  However, using VS2003, I can't
attach to the service process from my XP Pro SP2 dev machine.  I get the
error:

I have the problem in a larger project, however, even a simple windows
program like a hello world prog leads to the same problem:

sampling. When I launch it I get:
"Could not launch xxxx.exe . The profiler was unable to start sampling  with
the specified configuration."
