I have some files in VSS, which are checked-out of a user. Unfortunately, this user exists no more, and the files are still locked. Other users cannot check out this files and edit it. How can i force the files to be free?

If I am placing a solution under VSS from studio, of course it cheks in all files from each folders including also the OBJ, DEBUG... When developping you do not need to keep track of those OBJ or Debug folder contents as you are anyway going to recompiled chek out code....

I have checked out/in a file several times and labeled them. When I right click on that file and select "show history ..." with date range and user, nothing is shown. What is the problem?

Hi, I'm able to get a file's history using a specific date range through the gui but can't get it to work from the command line. I use the 'From' and 'To' dates in the 'History Options' dialog box and get 2 results.

What are the steps involved in upgrading a VSS database from 6.0d to 8.0? I have a number of VSS6.0d databases (the code goes back around 6 years or so), and while the latest version of all the files is what I want, it would be nice not to lose the history of changes.

I've enabled remote access for one of my VSS 2005 databases, and now I need to start using it. However, I can't find any documentation that tells me how to access this database remotely. What must the client do to access a database remotely?
