I just installed VS2005 on our server that has IIS running and can be
accessed from the outside world.  How, then, do I create a database that can
be accessed from the outside world?  Does the database need to be stored
under the C:\Inetpub\Wwwroot folder?  Are there other ...

I can see how to add files very easily to my source control folder, but how
can I add everything uder a folder?
I have dozens of folders and subfolders.  Surely I don't have to manually
create for each folder.

I'm working on a project with a developer who has a slow and unreliable
internet connection.  It's impossible for him to access a shared VSS
database.  He emails me changes on a regular basis, but I don't know of a

i have a problem with vss2005.  whenever it runs with the fix option, it
complains a lot about many files and writes new copy of the nodes.  However,
the copy are bitwise identical to the ones saved in the backup directory and
so it repeats the whole process the next time it runs ...

Is there a way to configure Visual SourceSafe 2005 to force the user to
enter a comment when checking in a file?

In VSS 2005, I have set the option to open Show Differences dialog.  However,
it does not display, even when using Shift key when running Show Differences.
Is this a bug or is there something I've missed?

I just installed VS 8.0 on a Vista 64 machine with VS 2005 installed.
I am having some annoying issues which I can not resolve.
1.   When I double click a file in source safe, a dialog comes up asking me
about viewing the file.   The first option is "view source safe's copy" which ...

I checked in a file inadvertently after changing the system time to a
previous date.  So when I view History on that file, the dates are
(obviously) inconsistent...the top-most file in the history shows a date that
is earlier than the one right below it.

This wasn't possible because VSS tells me files had been checked out by the
current user to a different directory.

I need to know, which files in the repository are shared with other
