An engineer called and cannot get into a folder. I select the folder and I get the message "file \\<server>\path\ewngaaaa.a not found". I opened the data folder up and I do not have a *.a file but I have a *.b file. Can I rename the *.b file to the *.a file.

when i start up VSS, and click on browse to select sourcesafe database, even after selecting existing database, I can't see the entry in Available databases... other team members have no problem running VSS.

Our developmentment documents are written in Microsoft Word and are stored in SourceSafe. Is there a way to do "diffs" or a "find in files" search on these documents? It works for .txt files but not .doc files. Or is there a better way to store the documents?

I experienced an odd "feature" the other day. When trying to opening an XML-file from within the SourceSafe (either by double-clicking or right-click and view) the file is opened in Internet Explorer, but after approx 2 seconds the IE window "shuts down".
