when i start up VSS, and click on browse to select sourcesafe database, even
after selecting existing database, I can't see the entry in Available
databases...
other team members have no problem running VSS.

I'm trying to force specific users to enter a password when login in to VSS.
The other users will continue to use their NT id. Is this possible?

I sometimes have to check a solution out of sourcesafe, that contains
multiple projects onto my laptop. I do this from inside vstudio 2003. I
checked out every file from each project in the solution.
When out of the office, and no longer connected to the source safe database,

I'm storing Word DOT-files in VSS. I want the developers to open the template
file as as DOC-file from VSS so they can save it back as a DOC-file with
their own name (i.e. just like doubleclicking on a DOT-file in Windows
Explorer).

I am using Visual studio 6.0 with Visual sourcesafe running on windows XP.
after installing XP sp2 Sourcesafe and
Visual studio cannot connect to Source safe anymore. I get the following
errors:

If I roll back changes. is that command similar to delete the contents of the
file or destroying the contents?
In layman terms, does roll back create the need to purge anything from VSS?

Is there is any other way to take the VSS BACKUP. I have VSS .ssa about 3 GB
Data. It takes more than 24 hrs to backup all the phases. Is there is
anyother way to take the VSS Backup so that I can complete within one or 2
hrs the 3 GB data.

My coworkers and I have been having difficulty adding new users to a newer
database we are using for .Net code. We use the IDE integration for checkins
and checkouts. Any one else experiencing similar issues? Or know how to fix
this?
