According to the MSDN articles, when you use the VersionNumber method of the VSSItem of a pinned file, you will retrieve the pinned version. In my testing, this doesn't seem to be the case. I have included a code sample below that gives you an idea of what I am trying to do.

How do I do that? The file is checked out exclusively by someone else. In some cases a dialog box appears asking if I want to work disconnected from SourceSafe. I am not sure how that mechanism works.
