Only by going to VSS and checking out XXX.csproj & XXX.csproj.vspscc there first, can I check out project XXX in Visual Studio .NET. In contrast, I can check out the solution and the individual WebForms from within Visual Studio .NET  normally
Note: Under project XXX, bin\XXX.dll, ...

I am facing a unique problem. I have a VSS server which we use to
maintain the source for many projects.
However one of the projects is using linux. How can they access VSS.
I am aware of one tool called sourcegear which provides linux client.

Every time I try to check out a file, SourceSafe says "does not support checking out files while disconnected from the network" (this isn't an exact quote, but close).  I have no problem going anywhere on the network and no problem opening the whole project from sourcesafe off ...

As I understand it when you open files in VSS a copy is placed in the temp folder. This is then cleared down on closing the file or exiting from VSS. This doesnt seem to happen when I access Microsoft Project files (.mpp). They remain in the temp folder and I have to clear them ...

When i create a new VSS db and try to access it from any other machine, i get an error message saying Access to file "rights.dat" denied. Does anybody have any idea why is it happening? I am using Windows XP os.

I add my solution to SourceSafe, from within the VS.NET IDE, and everything works fine; I can check in/out etc. without any problems
