Before I used to right click on a Wordpad file in the VSS Explorer and
select edit. If i chose the Advanced... button, the dialog box displayed
choices about which program to use for editing the file. Now it just
displays "Allow multiple checkouts, Replace writeable, and set file ...

I recently moved my Visual Studio project (which was
under the control of Visual SourceSafe) to a new
computer.  I moved my project files and VSS database and
kept all directory names the same.  Everything seems to

I have a question about one of the idiosyncrasies of VSS having to do
with the Diff method.  I've observed that if a document, let's say a
Word Document, is open and a diff is attempted, an error message is
displayed stating that the document is already opened.

remote host--this host does not have VSS. I do have VSS on my dev box and

Hi I have successfuly installed The admin tools on our server (Windows
2000), however the box we are using is also used to deliver
Development JSP pages and as such uses Tomcat as the platform. However
when I attemtp to 'select a web server' I get a message back saying

I can't suppress the history for these files, and they make history reading
really heavy.

A friend of mine is using VSS 6.0 (build 8163) and his database is around
4GB.
Is there a way to shrink it? Either by compacting or removing older
versions.

While I'm trying to compare two progects(one from VSS
another one from HDD) which have set of different files
