I create a web project with VS.NET. I put it on my source control like
it is explain in the MSKB. I want to add a project to my solution who
contains all of my class (linked by project reference). But the
problem it is that the project must be on the server to be seen with

I have purged few files and projects  from Source Safe data base recently.
After this I started running analyze as follows
analyze -v -f  <database directory>
at the end I am seeing Validating security system.

Is it possible to use a third party diff program when I click diff from
VS.net Sourcesafe IDE?
and it so how?
also can I use the same third party program from vss itself?

The solution Explorer window gives information about
which files are checked in (blue lock) / Chcecked out

I'm having some problems integration Visual SourceSafe
with Visual Studio .Net 2003. When I'm trying to add a
solution to source control I get the message. "Action has
been cancelled". My version of Visual SourceSafe is 6.0d

Is it possible to set an alert (email), if somebody checks
in a document?

I have a couple of distant dev shops that use a number of different
languages.  The distant (mileage) locations have VPN access to the file
share.  My question is, is it reasonable to have them each do a weekly "code
dump" to my local VSS?  If it's reasonable, how is the best way to ...

I'd like to set up a visual source safe serve in a internet scenario to share work with some friends who are far.
I do not want to enable file sharing on a internet connected computer so I wonder if there is a tool to make vss working without
file sharing.

I am trying to reconnect a sourcesafe database to real data. The hard disk
crashed and had to be replaced. It was necessary to rebuild the entire
system from the ground up. I have a complete backup of the entire system and
have been able to extract bits and pieces from that back up ...

I am getting a source control login dialog box and I put the username and
password in and get an error ADO error - what does this mean ??

Although VSS6.0d is on the same CD of VS2003, it does
seem to integrated at all.
I just removed VS2002 from my Windows 2003 server,
installed VS2003 and brand new VSS 6.0d from that VS2003
