I have VS.net2005 standard edition. I bought from Amazon about 5 months ago. I plan on installing it on a Vista machine soon. It seems I need VS2005 SP1 and SP1 for Vista. I've downloaded both from MS site.

Does the devenv command return any value? My idea is to build a batch script which can be told when a VS 2005 build has failed and then write that in the prompt. If it doesn't, does anyone else have a suggestion on how to achieve this?

My VS2005 IDE, if allowed to remain open, steadily uses more and more RAM, and becomes progressively slower. By "slower" I mean even typing code takes longer! If I keep track using Task Manager, it's not unusual for the "devenv" process to consume upwards of 275 mb.
