New MSDN subscriber - where is java language conversion assistant?14 Mar 2007 20:14 GMT4
I have just bought an MSDN license. One of the reasons is to convert an
application from JBoss to .Net.
I'm looking for the Java Language Conversion Assistant, but I can't seem to
find it.  I have installed both Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio .Net.  I
CrystalReports runtime (at client's place) license issue14 Mar 2007 14:42 GMT3
What is the licensing issue with CrystalReports runtime? We have heard the
runtime is not free and the client have to purchase a runtime license for
executing reports developed in VS.NET?
Because of this we are confused on whether we should use Crystal or we
Update Web Reference problem14 Mar 2007 13:42 GMT2
I have a web reference and it is set as dynamic.  It created the keys
and url values in my web.config file which is what I expected.
However, when I make a change to a URL value in my web.config file and
update my web reference, it overwrites the web.config file with the
Getting compile command line from IDE14 Mar 2007 02:46 GMT2
Is there a way to extract the command line being called when you compile from
within the IDE for Visual Studio 2005 solutions/projects?
Thanks,

I'm using VS.NET 2005+SP1 (both standard and VC++ Express editions),

What is the correct way to create an ASP.NET Web Application?14 Mar 2007 00:35 GMT3
I'm taking an online course - the current topic is "Using Data Binding in
Web Forms"
The instructions were written for a Visual Studio version earlier than the
2005 version I have.
Database development:  is ADO.NET or ASP.NET better for beginners?14 Mar 2007 00:21 GMT2
For just learning about programming with databases, what is better, to
learn ADO.NET, ASP.NET or both?
My 2006 book on Visual C++.NET by Stephen R.G. Fraser has a chapter on
ADO.NET and databases but nothing on ASP.NET, which just cruising
Team Foundation Server 180 day trial..?13 Mar 2007 14:56 GMT2
Anyone know whether the 180 day trial of Team Foundation Server
(http://tinyurl.com/fy3re), can be 'converted' into a proper licensed
version within (or perhaps even after), the 180 day trial - without
any loss of data?

create new table on remote sql server12 Mar 2007 23:36 GMT1
New to VS so excuse if this is an obvious question.
I have access to a MS SQL server hosted by my ISP.  The tool they use to
create and modify tables seems VERY basic.  Can I create a new table (or
modify an existing one) on the remote SQL server but using the tools in VS?
One DataSet or Many - which is better?12 Mar 2007 23:23 GMT1
I have a project with 11 datasets containing one or two datasets.  Would
there be a perceptible loading difference if I combined the tables them into
one?  Other than administrative simplicity, are there any other benefits of
having all my tables in a single dataset?
No "Webtest" in Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Developers?12 Mar 2007 09:44 GMT6
I am looking for the successor of "ACT" in VS 2005 and I found the
test projects, but when I right-click on a new test project and choose
"Add-> New Test" my choices are limited to "Ordered Test" and "Unit
Test". I guess this is the place where other editions show the
Bizarre VS2005 Debugging Behavior12 Mar 2007 08:39 GMT2
I'm suddenly (as in "I don't ever recall seeing this behavior before") seeing a bizarre behavior in the VS2005 debugger when working
with a C# library project. I test the library by using a separate project (in the same solution) which exercises the library
routines.

Microsoft should "just say no" to drugs...12 Mar 2007 02:44 GMT4
I don't work at Microsoft (and after some of my posts I probably never
will), but I don't have to work there to spot obvious signs of the liberal
use of intoxicating substances.
Case in point.....Microsoft Office 2007.  For reference, you may look at the
