I've been hearing that the new Windows Installer, .msi format is now the preferred way of packaging the apps because it overcomes the ".dll hell", performs "self-healing", "on-demand" installations etc. I'm not familiar with any of these terms.

I am working with VS .NET 2003 and I am getting an error if I try to Check-out, Check-in or Get Latest of a file from VSS. The error is "Error in the DLL." I didn't have this problem before and I've tried to uninstall and re-install .Net 2003 along with VSS 6.0d.
