Is there are .NET replacemet for the capabilites of WMI?
I'm particuarly interested in local machine configuration,
e.g. CPU speed, RAM, harddisks and space available,
service packs installed,etc.

I have an unopened, still in shrink wrap, copy of VS .net 2003 - this is not
a student copy or an upgrade it is the real deal !

In Excel, I am doing a macro.  I get a dialog box in the middle with the
