I installed a Winform application on a Windows XP machine today and was
surprised to find the .NET Framework already present.
Was the .NET Framework distributed as an Operating System update and if so,
what Operating Systems was it distributed for?
Perhaps the user had installed it through a separate download and was either
unaware of having done it or has forgotten.

Thank you (both) for the information,
It is listed as a recommended update for
Windows Millennium
Windows 2000
Windows XP
This explains why she already had it installed.

.NET 1.1 is contained in Windows Server 2003, .NET 1.0 SP2 was included
in the Windows XP CD-ROM SP1, and available in Windows Update.
