Just installed Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition.
When attempting to link to a data source which
is a ms access database I get the following error (if I wrote it
down properly).
Format of the initialization string does not conform to
specification starting at 0.

I thought it would be a bit easier to expose the project to
my data, but no.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi James,

For exact error messages, google is your friend.  This thread might give you some insight of the error.

I pasted the error message into the search box and no
results were returned.

If that happens, try to remove a word or several.

I copied this text from your message, google should return plenty results

"Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting"

You lack the word 'index' to get a result from the entire error message.

No Results, again. Tried several variations.
Does it return anything when you search the string?

Searching for "Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting" on

http://www.google.co.uk or http://www.google.no should return 143 hits

The number of hits may vary based on location if you use http://www.google.com, but you should at least get some hits anywhere in the world.
