programmatically show new empty row

For DataGridView.AllowUserToAddRows = False :

how to programmatically cause the DataGridView to display a new empty row ?

( where of course the cells should not be allowed to be edited  )

just call
gv.Rows.Add()

but to put that in edit mode you need a little more research...
