Hello,

Is there a way to determine when there is idle input in the textbox portion
of a Combo control?  The TextChanged event will tell me when the text portion
is changed; I want to know when the user has finished typing.

thanks,
Notre

Hi Notre,

Based on my understanding, you'd like to determine when the the user has
finished typing in the textbox portion of a ComboBox control. If I'm off
base, please feel free to let me know.

There should be a "sign", e.g. the user presses Enter key or moves the
focus from the ComboBox control to another controls on the form after he
finishes typing, so that we could determine when the user finishes typing.

If the 'sign' is pressing Enter key, we could handle the KeyDown event of
the ComboBox control. The following is a sample.

private void comboBox1_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e)
{
   if (e.KeyCode == Keys.Enter)
    {
       // the user has finished typing, do what you want to do here
    }
}

If the 'sign' is the ComboBox control's losing focus, we could handle the
Leave event of the ComboBox control. The following is a sample.

private void comboBox1_Leave(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
     // the user has finished typing, do what you want to do here
}

Hope this helps.
If my suggestion does not fit for your scenario, please feel free to let me
know.

Sincerely,
Linda Liu
