I am trying to create a simple web site with VS .Net 2003 and am having
trouble understanding when pages are reloaded. My start page has a text box
(txtBox) that is set to a particular value by the page's load event handler.
The user has the option of changing the value (by just clicking in txtBox
and entering a new value). Then the user can click a button which executes
some code that utilizes the string in txtBox and then uses Response.Redirect
to load another web form. I am finding that if the user changes the value
in txtBox and then hits the button the initial page is reloaded (!) before
control is given to the button's click event handler and hence when the
button's click event is run it sees the original value in txtBox that was
set by the initial page's load event handler. Is there some way I can
prevent the system from reloading the initial page when the button is
clicked?
Thanks.

You must check for IsPostBack in Load event. And set original value only if
it is not post back. Load event executed before any control event so if you
don't check for IsPostBack control value will be overwritten by your code.
