I am having bad experiences with the installation of the sp1. It seems MS is
producing software with very poor quality. VS2005 is a big programm wich MS
cannot handle because it is too big, without modularization for such a
setup. VS2005 is very slow in comparation with VS2003. I hoped the SP1 would
be a help for this. This was my motivation to install the SP1.  I do not
believe such a poor quality comes from Microsoft.

I have 3.8 GB free on my C partition. I tries to installs the SP1  2x
already. An it could not terminate because space problems. I tried to
install too, by extracting first the msp file from the setup exe in an other
partition with 16 GB space and starting the setup from there. But the setup
copies the 466 MB setup file 2x to the C partition to the directories
C:/Windows/installer and to the c:\..\Local Settings\Temp directory. It
seems, it cannot be configured a temp work directory in another partition
for the setup. And the setup needs very long time in order to know, it
cannot be installed.

Earlier setups from Microsoft were preventive and had more
configurabibility. Where are the people and architects which was building
the products from earlier, that I learned to love?

Does know somebody how to install the SP1?. How may space would the SP need,
in order to install it?

To be honest, that's *way* too little on a development system. If you've
just spend £££ on the VS 2005 upgrade, then you spend a bit more and
upgraded your PC :-)

But the SP1 was a bit of a surprise to me. I thought it wasn't running at
first but I think it was because the SP1 was being dragged slowly across my
wireless network when you double click on it.

And it did make me laugh when it said this upgrade could take several
HOURS!!

Cheers, Rob.
