I downloaded the trial version of VS 2005 Pro and it locks up when I run the
applications through the IDE, these are the starter kits that came with,
also when run a ASP.Net site which is just a simple page a second time the
web browser does not start. I also installed the SP for VS 2005.  Every time
I use VS I need to shut it down through the task manager.

WinXP all the latest updates
2.4 Ghz with 1 Gig of ram.

Thanks
Tom

I never saw Visusal Studio 2005 Professional locked up, either on my
installation or on installations from collegues, partners and customers.

But there are (were?) some known problems with Vista.

And a customer experience some problems with Service Pack 1.

Hi,

If you have VS SP1 installed you could try uninstalling VS and then reinstalling
without applying the service pack.
I experienced a lot of problems when I installed SP1, hangs and crashes.
Without SP1 it has been perfectly stable, far better than previous versions.

I was hoping VS 2005 would be more well behaved that VS 2003 but so far,
it's not fairing well. The biggest problem I seem to be having is that it
keeps saying there are build errors but the error list window is empty.
Re-open the solution and the errors either disappear or the correct errors
are displayed.

Maybe it's a side effect of upgrading a reasonably complicated VS 2003
project.

Cheers, Rob.

Thanks for all your replies. I reinstall the trial version so I will see how
it goes.

Thanks again
