I have heard that Service Pack 1 will fix problems like the genasm errors you get if a Control has public methods/properties that work with generics. (Google "genasm error message when adding DesignTimeAttributes.xmta to my project" if you want more information on that topic.) My version of VS 2005 says it is version 8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200). I suspect I need the SP1 update. I cannot find information about this update on Microsoft's Visual Studio site, which seems to be geared more for selling VS Team than for supporting current VS users.
