I am programming in VB. Starting a new project I choose "Windows
Application". So from what Phill. W. wirtes it seems I won't be able to make
a "pure" windows application(?)
I am only making a small and simple programme, ant to me it seems to much
hazzle installing the .NET framework on the computers that will run it.
Perhaps I might be better off with f.ex. VB 6?

Not in VB.Net, No.

Some more recent installations (Windows XP, SP2, possibly) may
actually come with the Framework pre-installed!
Certainly whatever /follows/ XP will ship with a version of the
Framework.

Depends how "simple" your application is ;-)
But at least the VB6 run-time is only 6 Mb, not 20-odd.

Thank you for your help!
I'll think about what I'll do.
