how reliable is VSS? Visual SourceSafe: Microsoft's Source Destruction??

I heard thru some articles on source control software,
many seems to comment that VSS has problem when its
database reach to a certain size. Is this true?

The recommended size of a VSS database is 3-5 GB. There are other factors as
well. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;138298 gives
some limitations you might want to consider.
