Restoring archived files generates an error message "Too
many file handles open". The files are not restored.
This error should be fixed in Service Pack 4 for Microsoft
Visual SourceSafe.
We have VSS 6.0c which means that we have SP6 installed.
Also - I can say that our experience has shown that this
error appears when number of branches form first reaches
62-64. Also after this when I choose file on vss, click on
properties->paths I get the same error "Too many file
handles open"
Why does this error appear? Any ideas?

Interesting. What is the 'number of branches form'?

You may have reached some maximum that hasn't been seen before. I would call
MS Product support. This maximum isn't listed in the KB article at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;138298
And branching 64 times seems like a lot to me, so I would say it's probably
worth the support call.
