Copying a project

I think i can use share & branch to copy a project in VSS, but VS2005
solution files contain information about the VSS binding (using the
SccProjectName key). After a project has been copied how do I ensure all
bindings are updated?

Many thanks

Actually, my preferred method would be to get the latest version of my base
project, remove all VSS info from the local copy, then add the local files to
a new project in VSS. This feels a lot safer, and when I tried to
share/branch just now VSS crashed anyway.

BTW, if I have created a project using share/branch, can I safely delete
this project (and destroy permanently) without impacting the original project?

Thanks

kh

Hi kh,

If you have checked "Branch after share" when sharing, deleting the
branched project will not impact the original one.

After branching from the original project, you can open it directly from
the VSS database. (In the Open dialog box, select SourceSafe(LAN) from the
left.) The binding information will be applied only when opening the
solution. So don't worry about bindings.

If anything is unclear, please feel free to let me know.

Hi kh,

I'd like to know if this issue has been resolved yet. Is there anything
that I can help. I'm still monitoring on it. If you have any questions,
please feel free to post them in the community.
