A file is shared between versions (v1 and v2 for example) . User A checks
out the file in version 2, then user B checks out the file in version 2 also
. Now user A attempts to branch the V2 file but VSS won't allow giving a
message "file is checked out" . User B however attempts a branch of the V2
file and this succeeds however User A now no  longer has the file checked out
. User A shouldn't loose the checkout . What gives?  VSS version if 6.0d

Hi,

First of all, I would like to confirm my understanding of your issue. From
your description, I understand that you're having problem when branching
project with checkout files. A user can do the branching while another
cannot, in similar conditions (both attempt to branch while both have the
file checked out at the same version). If there is any misunderstanding,
please feel free to let me know.

I tried it on my machine, however, I cannot repro this with VSS 6.0d. I can
branch a checked out file no matter in which of the share locations I
select the file, and the checkout is not lost.

This issue seems to be machine specific. Could you try to create a new
project on another VSS database and use the steps to repro this?
