I'm current putting a standard way to use vss in our company.
one of my friends told me that using multiple checkout may cause you some
problems with sourcesafe, but i see it is very important feature to apply!
any recommendation...

again, are there any resources about versioning softare and configuratiom
managments conventions ?!

You have to take care with binary files since merging can't be done on them.

We use multiple checkout here since the last 2 years and it really changed
the way we work (positively I mean). The automatic merge feature saved an
unbelievable amount of time. Our development team is about 25 people.

I would recommend it without any hesitations.
