Hello

A message box asking for another disk is displayed midway through
installation of VS 2005 . As far as I can tell there is no other disk.
platform: XP Professional with SP2.
install started via setup.exe on dvd root directory.

Sequence of Events:
Setup has detected that ms windows installer 3.1, msnet framework 2.0, msxml
6.0 parser, and ms document explorer 2005 already installed, Setup will
install the following components: ms visual studio 2005
I selected default install to drive c: which had 21 GB of free space.
Installing Components Microsoft Visual Studio 2005

the Messagebox text is as follows:
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Setup
Insert the disk: Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - ENU
Disk 2
OK Cancel

The file that the install is waiting for is Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.xml

I have no ENU Disk2 does one exist? remember that I am installing from DVD
titled Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition, Disc: 3070 December 2005
(MSDN Universal).
None of the other December Yellow DVDs satisfied this request
I have tried this install twice.

There are approx 598 MB of file data on the DVD, surely all files required
for VS install reside on this DVD, what is the secret here?

Has anyone seen and resolved this issue?

thanks
MacDuff

I'm having the same issue.  I heard copying the DVD to your Hard drive
might work.  I'm going to try it out now.  Let me know if you've found
a solution.

Thanks

Well, no go but new info is displayed when installing from copy of dvd on
hard drive.
It fails at same point while attempting to load
'Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.xml '
but the interesting point here is that different message is present in the
Message box.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Setup
Error 1311.Source file not found: d:\vsprod1
(g)\_15780_RTL_x86_ENU_NETCF_v2.0.cab.  Verify that the file exists and that
you can access it.
    Retry     Cancel

-------------
the bad news is the file doesn't exist on the DVD and of course not on the
copy of the DVD on the hard drive in directory d:\vsprod1 (g)

this is really bogus, was the testing of the install outsourced, 8 hrs blown
here messing with this.

Hello,

I am getting the same exact error that you posted regarding the 15780 NETCF
cab file. Did you ever find a workaround? I've tried loading from HDD, CD and
mounting downloaded ISO images on virtual drives. Regardless of the approach,
i get the same exact error. I'm installing on a fresh install of XP Pro SP2
up to date and with all other apps closed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Carl

Hello Carl,

I'm sorry to hear that you too are having similar problems.
No resolution yet.  I believe my problem lies with an earlier installation
of a SQL Server Express Beta.  I never install VB, VS betas, but I did
succumb  to the lure of the SQL beta.

Please note that while the install readme file goes to great lengths to
outline how to remove 'beta' software, the procedures do not work on my
desktop.  I do have VS2005 running on a laptop, someday I may wipe the hard
drive on my desktop or perhaps I'll just install Macromedia and do my thing
on another platform.

This feels like the twilight zone.  I am having the EXACT same problem.
I've been working on this thing for many moons but to no avail!  I
don't know WHAT I'm going to do!
