I've installed Visual Studio 2005 on two machines and I've noticed that
after both installs  are complete the files omp.h and vcomp.lib are not
found anywhere on the system.  vcomp.dll is found in the redistributables
directory.  On one of the machines, I had Visual Studio .NET 2003 prior to
the install.  I removed it before installing VS 2005.  On the second
machine, I had a beta copy of VS 2005 installed which I also uninstalled
following instructions posted on Microsoft's site prior to running install.
Is there any option that I needed to select for OpenMP support at install
time?  Any help is appreciated.

Thank You,
Robert Saccone

Hello Robert,
There is no OpenMP options for us to select in installation. The parallel building is provided as a feature of VS2005 and it is enabled by default. If you have multi-
processor, you may found it through tools -> options --> projects and solutions --> build and run. And you can also change it to a value you prefer.

Thanks,

Thanks Rhett, but I know about the option.  The trouble is that when I
include the header omp.h in my source, it cannot be found on my system.
I've run a search and cannot find either omp.h or vcomp.lib.  However,
vcomp.dll is in the redist subtree.  Any ideas as to what went wrong here?

Thanks,
Robert

Solved the problem.  Turns out I had installed the Standard Edition which
apparently does not include OpenMP support.  I installed the Professional
version and all the necessary OpenMP components were installed.
