Service pack installation

If I install Visual Studio but don't select the C++
option, only installing VB instead, then install a service
pack, and then decide to run visual studio setup again and
add C++, is it necessary to install the service pack
again? What I understand about service packs is that they
replace the exe files for the various development
environments that have been updated, is this right?

Thanks
Ben

The only service pack I've seen is for .NET Framework, not for Visual
Studio.  (That is, it's the operating system extensions, not the compilers.)
Is there a Visual Studio service pack?
