Hello Everyone,

I'm having issues installing the VS Beta2 professional version onto my
machine. Any ideas what is causing it?

Conf: WinXP, SP2

I've tried the VS cleaner tool kit to remove previous installation of VS
Beta if any, I don't have sql 2005 betas or ctp installed. I do have sql2000.

Here is the installation log...

I am having the very same issue only I am installing the non-beta version of VS 2005.  I also ran the "clean-up" tool.  Did you ever find a solution?

The same problem here. Downloaded Visual Studio 2005 from the msdn web site November 3.

Any solution?

I had the same problem installing the VS 2005 final. When I copied the setup
files to my harddisk I no longer encountered the problem.

I have copied the installation CD to my harddrive, but I still get this
problem.  Cleaner tool reported no beta-2005 software (after uninstalling per
instructions).

Any help?  I was hoping to get some work done.

Hi Guys,
I have the same problem with my dvd version of the beta 2.  I also get
a message ..V2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll could not be loaded.

I have XP Pro SP2 on Dell with 1GB memory.

My situation was I had SQL Server CTP September installed and working.
But I was trying out dundas charts which failed on that version.....I
thought it was worth an effort to instal beta2 (which I only got 2
weeks ago).

Beta 2 installed vs.net successfully at first.....but sql server would
no longer start....so I uninstalled it and then tried to re-install and
got the 'previous beta software exists use removal tool'...which I
did....I also got the intaller removal tool...I also searched around
here and found I should remove anything that looks like a beta so I
did.....but now neither the beta 2 of vs.net, sql server or the
september ctp for sql server 2005 can be installed....

Like Merlin, gee, I was hoping to do some work. I avoided the vs.net
betas as long as long as I could because I feared something like
this...I can get an eval copy of sql server 2005 from the web but when
I went looking for the beta version of vs.net the US site says come
back in mid-December....

Anyone have any advice as to how I might make these betas useful (apart
from use them as coffee cup coasters!!..No..not beer can coasters
either!!) Anyone point me to how I might get around this mscorwks.dll
problem and get the things installed so I can at least have a play
around with vs.net 2005 and sql server 2005?

Thanks

Peter

Hi All,
in case it helps....there were some files called SQL Server Install
Support which remained on my laptop after running the beta cleanup
software...I didn't notice them....once I removed them the eval for
2005 installed ok...but now I am not so keen to try and put the vs.net
beta back over the eval of sql server 2005....does anyone know if this
will work or am I lining myself up for wasting another day??

Peter
