I am new to programming and to VS.NET, and am running the
trial edition while I take a class. It took many tries to
get it installed. Now, when I try to run a basic
kindergarden-level program (one button, one label, one
text box), it debugs, then quits. I have
to Cntl-Alt-Del to shut VS down and start over. The
systems guy at school says it may be because I have a
Duron processor (with 512RAM and W2000SP3), and should
upgrade to an Athlon 2400. He said there might be a patch,
but I couldn't find one on MSDN.

Thanks.

Hello,

When you say debug than quits, do you mean that it just hangs and then you
have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to kill the process or are you having to reboot the
machine?

Do you have any anti-virus or firewall software loaded?
You possibly could track it down with a filemon log by downloading filemon
from http://www.sysinternals.com.

It hangs and I have to kill the process.
Antivirus and firewall are disabled.
I guess the processor issue doesn't sound plausible?

Did you try getting a filemon log?  If you can forward it to me, I will be
glad to take a look.
