After successfully installing VC6 and a later help collection which I still
had around rather than the one which came with the product, Tools | Options
| Help System shows blank entries for the Preferred Language and Preferred
Collection, so that I can not pick a collection for the Help system. Is
there any way to correct this bug ? I installed Service Pack 6 after
installing VC6 but the bug still persists.

Hey Ed,

Which MSDN Library did you install?  You stated a later version than the
one that came with the product.

If it is after October 2001 MSDN Library, then it will not work with the
VStudio 6.0 products.  The October 2001 MSDN Library is the last one to
work with the VStudio 6.0 products.  Now the information is still in the
later MSDN Library's you just have to use it as an external viewer.

HTH

Cheers,
