For a customer i have to repackage MS Visual Studio 6 including sp5 and sp6.

I use Wise Package Studio 5.1.

Are there any issues to check?

Are there any hints how to do this?

is there any info on this item?

To be clear, i need to deploy Visual Studio it self, NOT an application
created with Visual Studio!!

Extra Information, the Deployment tool is Radia, created by Novadigm (since
a short time ago part of HP)

I am not sure how you are doing this, but this could be very bad if you are
deploying this through a Windows Installer package.

If you deploy this through a Windows Installer package, then we are
possibly looking preventing any further updates from happening on the
Visual Studio 6 system, without a Major Upgrade being deployed.  It could
also make the system unstable.   Is there any reason your customer cannot
put Visual Studio on the network and then use like an install script to
install the product?

Tim

I am sorry, but this does not realy anwsers my questions.

Yes, I create a Windows Installer package to install Visual Studio 6.0. The
problem you discribes about upgrading this package is solved by creating a
new package (on customers demand)

The problem you describe about unstable system. Can you give me some
instructions on how to test this? Because, since i posted my questions, i
tried to created a package and it locks like it is working fine. i do not get
any strange messages or any other sign the system is unstable.

with kind regards

I had not looked at it yet but I have the same application on my list o
projects for a current client.

They want a completely passive install(progress bar only) so that user
cannot set install directories, etc.

Whats the best way to accomplish this if you can't repackage?

In de mean time i have created a Microsoft Installer package with Wise. This
works fine. This also creates the possibility of deploying the application
with only a progress bar for the users.

The only problem will be, as mentioned by Tim Macaulay, the automatic
updates.
The solution here is to create a MSP when necessary.
