Hi, I've got a XP Pro with SP2 and I cannot install Visual Studio 6.0 on it; as soon as I click on Setup.exe I get a message saying: "Setup has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Then it has a link which, when clicked, gives the following information: AppName: setup.exe AppVer: 6.0.0.8167 ModName: setup.exe ModVer: 6.0.0.8167 Offset: 00008871 Can anyone help? Thank you You prolly need to install the MSJVM to start. I got this link from another thread when I had a similar problem: http://www.c360.ca/download-Microsoft-VM.html I ended up re-installing VS6 over the top of itself before I got it completely clean and able to take SP6. Your situation sounded similar, so I thought I'd share my specifics. There are a bunch of posts here with VS6 installation problems.
