I have Visual Studio 2003 and did install the complete MSDN online help.
But the help pages are very very slow. If I choose one then the statusbar
shows "downloading..." for a while, and then finally the page is shown.

What is wrong?

This can be caused by file corruption during the installation.  Many times
it has to due with the hardware of the machine.

Try changing the speed of the CD-Rom drive to PIO Only, or using another
CD-Rom drive, even possibly shared across a network.

Right click on My Computer
Choose Properties
Select Hardware
Select Device Manager
Expand IDE/ATA Controllers
Right click on Primary IDE and select Properties
Select Advanced Properties
Change the Property "Transfer Mode" in Device 0 and Device 1 to "PIO Only"
Do the same to Secondary IDE before rebooting
Then go back out to the desktop
Reboot
Install product

Thank you for your reply, but I do not use the CD. I did a complete setup on
my harddisk.

Try disconnecting from the internet, and then disable the Anti-Virus and/or
Firewall software.  Once you do that, then try opening an msdn help page.
