visual studio installation error

hi , i have visual studio 2003.ney academic version and i am trying to
install it to on windows XP but everytime i do it , it gives me an error.
"resource lookup failed - infinite recursion detected.Resource name:
Typeintialization_type".
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall everything , i dont know what this
error means.Any help will be appreciated.

I have not seen this error before.  Are you installing the Prerequisites,
or are you on Step #2?  Have you tried clean booting the machine using
msconfig.exe?

Start > Run and type msconfig and then click Ok
Select the Services Tab
Click the Disable All button
Locate and check Windows Installer in the first column
Click Ok
Reboot when prompted
Install the product
