What does this error mean?

[08/31/04,17:14:41] setup.exe: [2] ISetupComponent::Pre/Post/Install()
failed in ISetupManager::InstallManagerHelper()
[08/31/04,17:14:41] setup.exe: [2] Component error string not specified in
ISetupManager::AddToActionResultCollection()

Thank you

I have the same problem and found this KB article, but the resolution doesn't
work for me.  But maybe it'll work for you

How far into the installation do you get?  Is there a text file beginning
with vsmsilog in the temporary folder?  If so, can you send it to me?

    Start > Run and type %temp% and then click Ok
    Locate and Compress any text file beginning with vsmsilog

You can also try cleanbooting the system with the Sytem Configuration
Utility (msconfig.exe) and then executing the installation.

    Start > Run and type msconfig and then click Ok
    Select the Services Tab
    Click Disable All
    Locate and Check Windows Installer
    Click Ok
    Reboot when prompted
    Install application
