Hi,

We are installing Visual Studio .NET on a PC-lab with about 50 PCs, and had
hoped we could put MSDN on a central server.
So far, I have not found out how to do this.
I have installed VS.net using Group Policies, but I don't know how to tell
the program to look for MSDN on a spesific server. Is this possible, or do I
have to install MSDN locally on each PC on the lab?

Thanks,

HH

HH,

You need to install the client portion of the MSDN Library onto the client
PC.  It is a client/server setup.

1. Execute an Admin Installation on the server by using the /a switch.
    msiexec /a <cdrom>:\msdn.msi

2. Go to client machine and execute a typical or minimal install on the
client
this will copy the engine files for dexplore.exe and the index files to
the client machine
the data will remain on the server
