Does anyone have the solution to this?

John, were you able to solve it ?

Thanks and Regards,
Vinil

I am having difficulty installing the Web Part Templates for
Visual Studio .NET.  I am using Visual Studio.NET 2003 Enterprise
Architect.  I've tried the install on two different PCs with the same
result.  I get an error message:

"Visual Studio .NET must be installed before you can install the
Web Part Templates for Visual Studio .NET."

The registry keys for VS.NET 7.1 which Webpart templates installer
looks for were missing in my registry. Any of the other addins that i
installed might have removed it.
Anyway, restoring the registry key was the only step needed to run the
installation.
The reg keys are:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1\Registration\PIDKEY
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1\Registration\ProductID

Hi there,

I am completely new to .NET development and am trying to get familiar with
Webpart development. Using Visual Studio .NET 2005 I try to install the
Webpart template but get the same error message as John Palmer. Trying to
set values in the registry does not work because there are no such
registry entries. Has anyone faced this problem too? I have already spend
one day in trying to get it work and have come to the point of
desperation... .

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Best regards,
Helga
