I installed Visual Studio.net Professional (version 2003)
without any problem. However, when I invoke Visual Studio
2003 I´m getting the following message:

"Your current security setting prohibit running AxtiveX
controls on this page. As a result, the page may not
display correctly".

Can somebody help me with this issue?

Hi Jorge,

Great Question!

The error message - "Your current security settings prohibit running
ActiveX controls on this page.  As a result, the page will not be displayed
correctly." can have multiple scenarios.

1. An existance of the beta VS.Net product that may still remain on the
machine.  If you did have the beta on the machine, you may want to research
about fully removing the product from the machine.

2. Firewall and Antivirus software - sometimes, these type of products can
cause problems like this one.  You may want to uninstall and reinstall any
Firewall or AntiVirus software that you have on the machine.  If you do
this, it is my recommendation to remove the computer from the internet if
you have a connection other than a dial-up connection.

3. It could be an AcitveX setting with in Internet Explorer.  You can check
this by opening Microsoft Internet Explorer and then go to Tools > Internet
Options > Privacy Tab.

You could use the filemon and regmon tools to help diagnose the issue.  You
can download the tools from http://www.sysinternals.com.

If you produce these log files, and forward them to me, I will be glad to
research them for you.

HTH.

    Hi Tim,

I have the same problem and nothing helps:
1) I don't have a beta vs.net installed
2) No firewall, uninstalled my virus checker
3) Pivacy settings set to "accept all cookies" (lowest) and also on the security tab: for all 4 zones : lowest.
Still the problem remains:
Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly.

After clicking the OK button, nothing happens: the window diplays: "Please wait while the wizard initializes..." and nothing ever happens.

I have a regmon and filemon file. Can you help me?

I still haven't resolved the problem, but I found a bypass:
Start VS by activating a solution (or workspace). This way, the wizard is not activated. After a few startups, the wizard is no longer activated at startup.

Hi Jorge,

I would be glad to look at the filemon and regmon that you have.  If you
can forward it to me, I will let you know what I see.
