VS .NET 2003 setup problem.

I'm trying to install VS .NET 2003 on a P4 notebook.  The
pre-reqs have been installed, although I had to do it
manually because the install kept failing.  When I try to
install VS itself I get the following, oh so helpful,
error:

There was an error processing setup data files.  Please
contact product support if this problem persists.

Any suggestions?

thanks,
John

Hi John,

Can you forward the vsmsilog*.txt file that is found in the temporary
directory.

Start > Run and type %temp% and then click Ok
Locate the text file vsmsilog*.txt where the * represents four random
characters.
    Compress and send.

Tim,

I've attempted to send the file twice.  It's come back as
undeliverable both times.  You can send me an email at the
above address if you don't want to post it.  I don't have
a vsmsilog file but there is a vserror and a vsinstall
date the time of the install.  I forgot to mention that
I'm running Win2k if that makes a difference.

thanks for your help,
John

George,

How about this, turn on verbose logging, and then run the Weccom.msi file
on the root of the CD and produce a verbose log.  Once you get the log,
please forward it to me and then we can go ahead and review it.

How to Enable Windows Installer Logging
