hi,
i would like to add that when i look at the update history/error code, it
shows 0x64c error code.
i am using ms xp. my attempts to install using windows update as well as
indepent download/install get the same results.
i have logged in as an admin. i have searched internet and microsoft but
unfortunately there are many users like me and can not find any solution to
this frustrating issue.
getting help from microsoft is even trickier and expensive.
let me know if i need to furnish more info.

appreciate any help.

phimalaya,

You can download SP1 directly from Microsoft:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/bb265237.aspx

Also, it looks like you may be trying to install SP1 from the network?  If
so, try copying it locally before running it.

Hope this helps,
