Can VS2005 SP1 be applied over BETA SP1?

I have VS2005 Standard Edition with BETA SP1 applied.
When I try to install the official SP1, the installer after about
20 minutes complains that the item to be patched dows not exist
on the computer.

Finally found a KB article (just recently posted).
Beta SP1 for VS2005 has to be removed before SP1 can be applied.

I noted that during the uninstall, a progressbox will go to 0 seconds
remaining. It will sit at 0 seconds left, and a 100% progress bar for about
2 more hours, mostly with no disk activity. Somewhat difficult to
distuinguish
from a hung computer...
