I've followed the directions in the MSDN help on how to change the background
color of the help pages, but it doesn't work.  I can change the font color,
ignore (or not) the page's font size or font, but I cannot change the
background color.  It appears to be a bug.

This is using VS 2005 TE/SD with Document Explorer version 8.0.50727.42 RTM,
installed from MSDN DVD disc 3073, December 2005.

Hi Jordan,

Do you mean you follow the following directions on the MSDN 2005:

To change the background color for Help topics

1. On the Tools menu, choose Options. The Options dialog box appears.

2. Choose Web Browser and then click Internet Explorer Options.

3. On the General tab, click Accessibility.

4. Select Ignore colors specified on Web pages.

5. Click OK.

6. On the General tab, click Colors.

7. Unselect Use Windows colors.

8. Click the color switch for Background to display the Colors dialog box,
and then choose a different color.

9. Click OK and then click OK again.

I test it and it works at immediately.

By the way, the above is the ways to change the web page's background color
of your machine's Internet Explorer. Since the MSDN Document explorer just
uses the IE browser as its embedded browser. So it the above methods
doesn't work, can you change your IE's background color outside the MSDN
document explorer?

Thanks!

Best regards,

Gary Chang

where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support

up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting

Hi Gary,

Yes, those were the directions I followed.  Everything but the background
color would change immediately.  I cannot test the general IE case until I
get back to work on Friday.

Thanks,
Jordan
