This is getting stranger. Some bits do look they got installed. C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\Tools\DesignerPrototypes is
populated, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio
8\Common7\IDE\DistributedSystem has DistributedSystem.ad,
LogicalDatacenter.ldd, System.sd, and vsdir files. It looks like the IDE
didn't get what it needs.
Hi Stan,

Do you mean you installed most components of Visual Studio 2005 Team Suites
on one of your machine, but there is no 'Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition
for Architects' product item in that VS2005's About dialog box? Also there
is no 'Distributed System Solutions' catalog in your VS2005 'New Project'
wizard.
If so, it seems your VSTS 2005 hasn't been installed successfully. Have you
installed any other VS2005 products in that machines before.
To workaround this problem, I suggest you uninstall the VS2005 first, and
remove the VS2005 relevant folders and registry key in your machine. Then
perform a installation of VSTS 2005 again.
Thanks!
Best regards,
Gary Chang

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting

Gary - yes, that's exactly what I meant. I'm already into the process you
recommended, too, but that's what I did the first time. I installed other
add-ins last time before I checked to see if TA was installed, but this time
I'm going to check as soon as the VSTS setup is complete.
