Hi,
Thank you for posting.
HRESULT 0x8002802F means "function not defined in specified DLL.". When
this error occurs during .NET Framework or VS setup, it generally means
that the version of mscoree.dll located in %windir%\system32 on the
computer does not match the version needed by Windows Installer to call
specific Fusion APIs to install assemblies to the GAC.
You may first try to install .NET Framework 2.0 separately and see if it
works.
If there is anything unclear, please feel free to post here.
Regards,
Walter Wang

I have uninstalled the .NET Framework 2.0 and reinstalled it using the
Windows Update website. Unfortunately it did not resolve the problem, I
still get the same error.

Hi,
Thank you for your update.
Does the server has some specific configuration? For example:
1) Beta version of Visual Studio or .NET Framework is installed before.
2) It uses some specific server hardware, such as RAID disk volume.
3) Is the OS 64-bit?
Also, does the system or application event log show any related error when
the setup failed?
We could also use the Windows Installer's log file to diagnose the problem,
here's a KB describes how to turn on the log and where to find the log:
#How to enable Windows Installer logging
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=223300
Please kindly capture the log file and send it to me or just post here (if
it's not big). My email address can be found in my newsgroup account
(removing the 'online.' part).

Hi,
My colleague(Id: msjr) is following up on this issue.
He is still not able to get the problem fixed.
Re-installing .NET Framework 2.0 does not help.
Thanks,
-Mani
