Hi,
when I start Document Explorer, it crashes completely. I definitly cannot
start it. Reinstallation of Visual Studio 2005 Prof (german) did not solve
the problem. After a complete reinstallation of the computer, the problem
seamed to be solved. But now - without software installation changes - the
problem reoccurs. I do not want to reinstall the machine again and removal
and reinstallation of Visual Studio did not solve the problem.
Has anyone an idea?
Greetings
Zimm

Hello,
Document Explorer in my VS 2005 installation worked OK for about three
months and then it started to crash. A total system reinstall has not
fixed the problem.

Just in case your Document Explorer is still crashing:-
I worked with MS support for nearly three weeks on the problem. Now
the problem is found it has been added to a full scan at
http://safety.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm
It takes ages to run but it finds and fixes the problem.

In my case the problem was a trojan file called klgempth.xiv
It took Microsoft nearly three weeks to find it. Most of the diagnoses
was done driving me with wnddbg and supplying huge .dmp files. It was
extremely interesting. Once the Microsoft scanner was updated other
people found variants of the same malware. It's a mystery where the
infection came from. If I submit the file to Virus Total about half of
the scanners now find the problem. Some of the "big league" scanners
like McAfee and Norton still miss it.
You may have removed the malware with your rebuild.
