Hi,

We have upgraded our VSS to version 6.0d obtained from MSDN Subscription
site, and we found that when we offer a Get Command from the command line
utility, it reports version not found for some destroyed files / projects.

I searched the web and someone point me to this article
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837417/), which ask me to contact the PSS
Support in order to get the hotfix. Could anyone please help?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Tony Cheung

I missed some information.

The command I use look like:
SS GET $/MyProject -VLv1.0.0.0 -Yuser,pwd -W -R -I-Y

I believe that this command would get the project $/MyProject with label
v1.0.0.0 to my current directory recursively. However, what I got is part of
the files in the project and subprojects and the "Version not found" error
message.

Thanks for help!

Tony Cheung

Hi Tony,

Based on my research, this might be a known issue.

To work around this problem, select Options from the Tools menu. In the
General tab, select the "Act on Projects Recursively" option (note that
after changing this setting you must exit the VSS explorer for it to work
on the command line). On the command line, use wildcards instead of the -r
switch.

You can check the following link for more information.

Thanks for your help, Kevin.

But "Act on Projects Recursively" is not my default setting, and if it works
recursively for every project, it slow down many operation and decrease our
team productivity. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks for your help!

Warmest Regards,
Tony

Hi Tony,

As far as I know, there isn't a fix for this. It seems to be the only way
to workaround this issue. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
