DBP (database project file) in Visual Studio  under Visual SourceSafe control

When a database project file (DBP) is under SourceControl
and is checked out by someone else, I still can add SQL
scripts to the project without any complaint of Visual
Studio warning me that this file is exclusively checked-
out by someone else.  I should at least assume that Visual
Studio displays a pop-up to ask me whether I want to check
out the project file.  But nothing appears, the file is
just being added, resulting in an inconsistency between
Visual SourceSafe and my local version.
Anyone an idea? Looks like a Visual Studio/Visual
SourceSafe integration bug to me!
Thanks!

Database projects are a bit of a special case, so you may very well be
correct. If it's really a bug, your call to Microsoft Product Support would
be free.

Database projects do not have auto-reload implemented (if file changed on
disk it is not reloaded in IDE). This is why check out is deferred in this
case.
